Salt Spring Island

Salt Spring Island is known for it's artists,
 agriculture, atmosphere, and attitude.
It is liberal, laid back, and incredibly beautiful.

We took the 35 minutes ferry ride from Swartz Bay to Salt Spring Island, drove to the opposite end of the island and stumbled on this lovely place to stay.

The Saturday Farmer's Market here is quite wonderful and people flock to it for the art and food and the gorgeous setting in Centennial Park next to the picturesque Ganges Harbor.

We happened to be here for Pride week
and so got involved in some of the celebrations!

This Canadian storyteller was amazing!
Friday night she had the audience entranced
with her stories, both poignant and humorous.

Saturday morning Anita and the boys marched in the parade
and I ran along side taking (lots!!!) of pictures.
