The water was like glass as we gently made our way along the water's edge
looking for wildlife and enjoying the peaceful feelings.

As we floated along we saw tons of star fish and crabs.

This one's for you, Carolyn! Anita just reached down and grabbed it.

We headed out this morning around 8:30 to catch the out going tide.

Mikey and Jakey stayed home and rested.

Huge, abandoned ship run aground in the middle of Sooke Harbor.
Is this a new feature? We don't remember seeing it before.

The Kingfishers have been plentiful and vocal this summer.

We followed this little fellow for several minutes as he chattered and fished.

The Canada Geese are also plentiful and vocal.
Every night we lay in bed and listen to large flocks of them honk honking
as they come together and settle in for the night down by the dock.

We were excited to see an animal we haven't seen here before. Twice this morning we caught a glimpse of a fast moving, furry little weasel-like creature. I was lucky to get a (not very good) photo, so we could try to identify it later.
We decided it was either a mink or a fisher ... probably a mink.

We saw very few jelly fish so far,
and most of the Sunflower Star Fish have been small.
Whiffin Spit

We enjoyed watching the boat traffic in and out of the harbor.

We stopped on Whiffin Spit to stretch our legs and enoy the morning.

This is the kind of boat we need!

Marta was home when we cruised by, so we gave a wave

Hi Guys,
Glad to see that you are safely tucked up in your home. Take a picture of your house so I can see it. I can almost smell the salt air. The "boys" look very happy and full of energy. Weather looks good also. Anita, I see that you are wearing a coat, but I know that doesn't mean much. We get cold easily. Bonislawski trait. Anyway, love to hear from you. shoot and e-mail. Love to both of you-chris
