Fishing, Boating, Birding

Up to see the sunrise on the dock at the Tides ....
looks like a good day to go fishin'.

The sidewalk on the inner waterway in Pass-a-Grille is a daily party.
The fishermen walk up and down kibitzing and joking with each other.
Always ready to give tips and assistance to anyone.

The Spanish Mackerel were running all week.
Sherian caught a big one and someone gave us one.
So we grilled them and ate them .... "delicious" says Anita and Sherian.

Every fisher gets a companion bird for good luck.
A Pelican, Egret, or Heron ... ready to help with the clean up.

This is the story of the one that got away.
Sherian caught a big fighter who ducked into the rocks to escape.
Several guys came running to help, but we had to cut the line and let it go.

She caught a nice Sheephead ..... too small, so we returned it to the water.

Spanish Mackerel

Diva fishing .... clean sidewalk, bathroom on board, shade
and cold drinks if it gets too warm, lunch served. The good life!

Voted Miss Pass-a-Grille of 2009.

This the man who graciously volunteered
to gut our fish with his sharp knife. Thanks!

Then we got a call from Renee ... her friend, Don,
would pick us up at the fishing dock and take us for a boat ride.
Wahoo!!!! We jumped on board and he took us
to a nearby bird island where we saw so many beautiful birds. It was a fabulous day!

Pelicans feeding young ... very raucous.

Nesting Spoonbills

Baby Herons being fed. Much squawking and flapping and clashing of bills.

The Don Cesar ... a very expensive, beautiful hotel, painted to match the Spoonbills.
